Scholastic Regional A Class Colorguards in this class are high school guards in their first few years of existance or secondary units sponsored by high schools with more than one colorguard. The members of guards in this class are in the beginning stages of their training, but are considered old enough to learn at an increased pace thereby being able to demonstrate skills in equipment, movement, and performance independently and occasionally at an intermediate level. Productions from these colorguards range from a minimum of 3 minutes to a maximum of 4 minutes with at least 3 minutes of equipment time* included in the production. Emphasis is placed on the training of the individual member, but it is also expected that basic principles of show design are also demonstrated by the unit. High schools using only students enrolled at that school (or those providing a certification letter from the Principal that all students are eligible to particpate in that program) are eligible to register for this class. This class utilizes the WGI Regional A adjudication material for competitive evaluation. Independent Regional A Class Colorguards in this class are not affiliated with a high school. Members of guards in this class may participate until their 23rd birthday, or until the end of the season if their birthday falls after March 31.
